If you'd like to catch up and hear about the exciting next few months for Elevate. Let's schedule 30 minutes here: https://calendly.com/elevate-health/30min
What does Elevate do?
Elevate is a fitness-centric social network that revolves around helping health-conscious individuals log their gym workouts and diets by powering users' cameras with futuristic patent-pending technology. We believe this tech will become the gold standard for consumers to track their daily fitness goals, minimizing 90% of the typing and tapping on a phone screen that is required to log them. We are building this new visual segment of digital fitness by leveraging advanced camera technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Highlights.
The mistakes that feel the biggest are when the decisions we are so confident in, turn out to be major gaffes.
Why was it a tough 6 months?
Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, and we bit off more than we could chew for what we planned to put in our MVP (The version of the app we'd launch with).
The success of our startup will be in large part due to the stellar people who help us build it. We took the hiring process serious, but not seriously enough. We made the mistake of thinking we could skimp on experienced candidates, and teach less experienced ones as we built. Experience is priceless.
We hired friends because when bootstrapping a startup, sometimes friends are the only people you can afford. A host of problems come from hiring friends, i.e. accountability, unnecessary flexibility, irrational belief in their skillsets.
These issues created 2 major problems:
We had multiple incomplete pre-launch product goals.
Our frontend and backend code was a mess.
What we've done to resolve these:
Over the last 2 months we doubled down on our strengths, redistributing founder responsibilities, allowing Rich to do what Rich does best, and code his heart out. His deep dive into the product design, as well as rewriting and integrating the frontend and backend has been a blessing in disguise, 10-x'ing the entire product.
In this time, I have been focused on improving our machine learning models, as well as laying the foundation for our upcoming fundraises, go-to-market strategy, patent development and social media presence.
On Product.
In June, we began testing an alpha version of what we've built. This video showcases how large, accurate and fast our machine learning apparatus is becoming and we are continuously improving it.
Key Asks.
We are looking to partner with more Fitness Influencers who film short-video content for their workout plans!
We are looking for a talented UI/UX designer to work with on a contractual basis, which may convert into a permanent full-time role for someone exceptional!
Goals for August:
Redesign Landing Page
Complete Product Build for Beta Version
Launch Beta with Feedback Portal on TestFlight
Onboard First Users
Seek Out Bugs & Destroy
Thank you.
Thank you Damian Robinson. The first person to get thanked twice haha, and I'm sure it won't be the last. Thank you for your trust in partnering with us to help build a better future for fitness. We are excited that you will be the first Premier Elevater on the platform.
Thank you to my co-founder, Rich. There aren't many people I know who are unflappable in the face of adversity, but you my friend are one of a kind. I've never seen you daunted or afraid of a challenge, and I'm blessed to have the best teammate in the game.
